Ways to pave the town's roads with irregular stones, side by side: a square with four roads, each road (and its quarter of the square) paved its own way. A is painted on the ground (no triangles); the others are real 3D stones sitting on their painted copies, with live triangle counts. Drag to look round, scroll or pinch to zoom.
Standing and kneeling turn to the next road each time you press them.
One point per square of the grid, nudged at random; each point owns the ground nearest it. A stone exists where its point falls inside the road, so the edges are ragged rows of whole stones.
Every colour here is worked out from the spot on the stone, never from the frame, so nothing flickers as you move. Each stone draws its own shade and tint, then grain from noise; the finest speckle fades out with distance before it can sparkle.
How the painted stones are drawn. Under the 3D stones these show only in the gaps; past the 3D distance they are all you see.
Pick a build to tune. Each stone's triangles: the top (corners − 2, or one per corner round a raised middle), plus (footing points per corner + 1) for each corner, for the sides. Soft shading costs nothing: untick it to see the bare facets.
